数学模型昭 示纹身寿命

纹身是人们体现宗教信仰，表达爱情宣言或者其他目的的活动。不过，因为纹身是用不褪色油墨在皮下着色形成，不管什么纹身都会在几十年后变得颜色浑浊、模糊不清。

现在，新出现一种数学模型，可以预测纹身随时间如何改变性状。这个模型由英国伦敦大学学院（University College London）的伊恩•埃姆斯（Ian Eames）建立，有可能影响人们对纹身图案的选择。像上图（左）精心绘制的史蒂芬•霍金纹身，经埃姆斯的模型预测，它二十年后的效果，也就是上图（右），将难以辨认。

绘制纹身的油墨是深植入皮肤的成纤维细胞中的。随着细胞分散，油墨也会分散；随着细胞死亡被代谢出体外，油墨也会被排出体外。

埃姆斯的模型模拟了经过二十多年皮肤细胞将油墨颗粒分散的状况，从而首次预测了纹身经过长时间后的变化情况。其它因素的影响也很重要，比如年龄、纹身大小、皮肤类型以及日照。但是，据模型预测结果看，如果要纹身，最好坚持选择简洁大胆的设计。

埃姆斯在新闻发布会上说：“泛泛地说，我的研究结果显示了这些情况：纹身中的小细节最先模糊，粗一些的线条受的影响相对较小。即使精致繁复的纹身一开始看起来很美，15年后将变得不再清晰。模糊程度取决于线条究竟有多精细。”

事后看来，选择类似于史蒂芬•霍金头像一般复杂的图案纹身可能效果并不好。埃姆斯认为，这个模型不仅能使纹身的未来效果具象化，帮助人们选择纹身图案，同时，这个模型也是了解纹身对健康长期影响的第一步。


想想几年后，Scofield那纹身最后会变成……，那献身精神真值得敬佩呀。
